Family - Community - Military

Beth Israel Congregation is a multi-generational, multi-cultural community.  Our congregation is over 100 years old with founding families still in residence.  We open our doors for traditional Jewish connection to a "hometown" congregation that encourages participation of spouses & children as well as individuals and families seeking a social and spiritual community.

Diverse Jewish backgrounds and traditions in the military add treasured depth and substance to our community.  We work in partnership with the committed active-duty and reserve chaplains who service the Jewish community on Fort Bragg to foster a meaningful Jewish experience in Fayetteville including holiday services and pastoral care to both active duty and veterans.  Our community believes in creating a Jewish home for single soldiers and military families within the Sandhills of North Carolina.

Religious School

Beth Israel Congregation caring teachers create a positive and interactive learning environment for all children and teens that nurtures and develops Jewish identity and community, and builds a foundation of Jewish ideals based on values, history, and prayerful experiences.  We belong to The Goldring / Woldenberg Institute of Southern Jewish Life (ISJL).  The ISJL Education Curriculum is a spiraled curriculum from preschool – 12th grade, in which learners revisit key content areas with increased sophistication as they progress through the curriculum. The ten key content areas are: Community, Culture and Symbols, God, Hebrew and Prayer, Israel, Jewish History, Jewish Holidays, Jewish Lifecycle Events, Mitzvotand Jewish Values, and TaNaKh(Torah, Prophets, and Writings).

Sisterhood

Our Sisterhood has big dreams and strong spirit. Sisterhood provides an opportunity for Jewish women to make connections with other Jewish women within our community. Members connect spiritually, culturally and intellectually through social events, Shabbat services, fundraising activities and Jewish experiences. Whether you are single or married, with or without children, born Jewish, a Jew by Choice or a non-Jew married to someone who is Jewish...without you, we are one woman short. We invite YOU to join us!

Community

Beth Israel serves as a gathering (distribution) site for Sandhills Farm-to-Table to bring fresh, locally grown food produced by Sandhills farmers and artisans to households in the Sandhills.

We organize several events throughout the year with the simple goal of encouraging community both within our faith and within our neighborhood.  Past events have included attending performances at Cape Fear Regional Theater, Moonlight Film Society outings, FireAntz Hockey games and Cross Creek Chorale performances and even bridge nights!  We have hosted guest speakers, stand-up comedians and inter-faith functions in the Samuelson Social Hall.
